About the event

Spend a few hours with us and fall in love with painting furniture.

On Thursday 16 July 2026, we're hosting two relaxed get-togethers in one day — one in the morning, one in the evening — and you're warmly invited to join us at whichever time suits you best.

Both sessions begin with a short, friendly introduction to furniture painting from our guest speaker, who'll walk you through the essentials and answer any questions you have along the way. You'll get hands-on with The One for Wood, our paint-and-primer-in-one, and discover for yourself why it's the easiest and safest way to paint wood. There's nothing complicated to learn, no special tools to buy, and no harsh smells to worry about — the paint is gentle enough to use comfortably indoors (it's VOC-free). Whether you've transformed dozens of pieces or you're simply curious to begin, you'll feel right at home.

Coffees & Pastries — Morning Session (10am–1pm)

Start your day with something good. Alongside the painting, we'll be tasting coffee and freshly baked pastries from a local bakery — the perfect pairing for a slow, creative morning.

Sip & Paint — Evening Session (7pm–10pm)

Unwind as the day comes to a close. Our sommelier will pair a selection of The One for Wood colours with a curated list of wines, so you can sip, paint, and see your favourite shades in a whole new light.

What's included at both sessions:

  • A short intro to furniture painting from our guest speaker
  • Hands-on time with The One for Wood paint
  • Tips, techniques, and answers to your questions
  • The chance to meet fellow furniture painters, restorers, and upcyclers

Pick your time, choose your ticket, and we'll see you there.

Three Reasons to Join Us

Try Before You Commit

Our events give you the chance to test The One for Wood in a relaxed, guided environment before using it in your own home. You can see how the paint behaves, try different colours, and build confidence without the risk of making mistakes on your own project.

LEarn by doing

Many people worry that painting will turn into a bigger, more complicated job than expected. At our events, you can experience how simple the process can be, ask questions, get practical tips, and discover techniques that make future projects easier.

Where?

A beautiful setting: Hotel du Vin, Cambridge

We're hosting both sessions at Hotel du Vin Cambridge, a charming boutique hotel tucked away on Trumpington Street in the heart of the historic city. Set within Grade II listed buildings, it's full of character — exposed brickwork, restored fireplaces, and dark wooden floors that blend old-world charm with quiet, contemporary comfort. It's the kind of place that makes an ordinary afternoon or evening feel like an occasion.

The hotel is also renowned for its extensive wine cellars and expert sommeliers, which makes it the perfect home for our Sip & Paint evening. And for the morning crowd, the relaxed lounge is an ideal spot to settle in with a good coffee and get creative.

This isn’t just any tin of wood paint. It’s a paint and primer in one, made in England using a uniquely formulated bio-based, VOC-free recipe that’s easy to apply, long-lasting, and durable—while being safe to use and live with.

There may be wood paints with similar colours and uses, but none are as authentic as Painting the Past wood paints.
